Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground

June 24, 2019  •  Leave a Comment

We had big plans for June and July 2019.  Two weeks at Bryce Canyon then a two week trip covering Northern Utah with 4 more RV campsites on our radar.  You've heard the saying, "While man plans God laughs."  Well, a 60 second bike ride two weeks before we were scheduled to leave ended with two broken bones in my leg with two screws in my ankle to hold everything together.  But Bryce must go on!

The drive up is both scenic and easy.  Plenty of passing lanes to keep RV'rs from slowing down traffic and several scenic turn outs if time is on your side.  The RV Campground is actually pass the main entrance of Ruby's Inn by about 1/4 mile.  There is room for a couple rigs to park while checking in but it can get congested very quickly, so much so there was a 5th wheel and a Class C occupying the same space at the same time (aka accident) when we arrived.  They are generally quick to send someone from the front desk out front to help ease the congestion, we just pulled past the entrance and and parked about 75 yards away near the first set of campsites.

Teepee rentalThese Teepee's are dotted throughout the campground. This solitary site sat just off the lake which made for a nice view.

All styles of camping are available here.  There are multiple areas for tents, some teepee's you can rent if fighting with a tent is not your thing and varying types of RV sites.  Some, I thought, were a little too close to each other but they were situated under very mature shade trees.  Our site was at the back of the campground where most of the Class A and larger rigs hung out.  These sites were by far the best maintained, with a very nice grass/rock seating area next to each spot but the shade trees have some growing to do.  I am not sure of the cost breakdown for each section of the park but ours was clearly the most expensive at $48 per night.  You can check out their website here to get their current rates.

Largest RV sitesSeveral of these sites are available, most being pull thru. A few have a slight incline and larger rigs are better off backing in. One of our neighbors in a large bus tried to take their's head on and it caused damage to their rig.

Picnic areaAll of the larger sites had these large picnic areas adjacent to their location. In the center back you can see an in-ground fire pit which many utilized for their early evening Smore needs.

Full hook-ups including cable are available on these sites.  Free internet is also found and easy to access.  We had a very strong signal throughout our stay.

Ten CampingLarge, shaded tent camping areas can be found throughout the area and all were within walking distance to large, clean restrooms.

My injury kept me locked in the RV for much of the trip.  I often opt for campground showers since they are generally better suited for my 6' 4" frame but with a busted leg, the extra effort kept me relegated to the RV shower.

Restrooms/ShowersLarge and clean. With the near by tent campers this can be a little busy during peak hours but the cleanliness got a thumbs up from my wife.

Dog FriendlyThere is a full-time leash rule but that just makes sense for the safety of all. We occasionally travel with our pit-bull Morgan who is smarter than most people I know but if an off-leash dog came at him, someone is headed to the vet.

The pool was small but clean, and almost always busy.  Certainly not a resort style pool where often kids have their own area but not a bad place to cool off after a day of exploring Bryce.

Pool/SpaThe pool and spa (seen on the left) were small but clean. It was almost always busy when we passed by but everyone seemed to be enjoying the area. LakeThis small lake was being the campsite. I am not sure if it is seasonal, local run off from the snow melt is still occurring but I never saw anyone but the ducks utilizing this area. Near by grazing landThe most noise we encountered were these nearby grazing cows. I will take the occasional "mooooo" over rude campers anytime.

Overall we truly enjoyed our stay here.  Pricy?  Yes!  But for me, the quality of the site mixed with the amenities was worth the price.  This is as close to the entrance to Bryce Canyon as you can get which made it the perfect base camp for our trip.  We left several times, even a couple making the 90 minute drive back home to run some errands, and there were never any issues with our stuff.

If you're looking at Bryce Canyon for an upcoming trip you really can't go wrong using Ruby's Campground as your jumping off point.  If you have a larger rig, just make sure they are putting you in the newer sites in the back and whatever additional cost you incur, you'll find it was worth it!
